FAQ

Common Questions

Fast answers to the questions we get asked most about solar and outdoor lighting.

How long do solar lights last on a full charge?

Our solar lighting systems provide 3-5 nights of autonomy on a full charge, depending on the configuration and operating mode. Standard systems are designed for 3 nights of backup, with extended 5-night autonomy available for regions with extended periods of cloudy weather. Smart dimming profiles can further extend runtime during prolonged low-sun conditions.

What is the warranty on solar lights?

We offer a 5-year comprehensive warranty on the fixture, LED engine, solar panel, and housing. The LiFePO4 battery is covered by a 2-year warranty. Our batteries are rated for 2000+ charge cycles, which typically translates to 5-7 years of reliable service before capacity drops below 80%.

Are the lights suitable for coastal areas?

Yes — our outdoor fixtures use marine-grade aluminium housings with stainless steel hardware and are fully IP66 rated, making them suitable for coastal and high-humidity environments. We also offer additional corrosion-resistant coatings and finishes for highly aggressive coastal or industrial environments.

Can solar lights work in winter or cloudy climates?

Yes, our solar lights are designed to work reliably in a wide range of climates. High-efficiency monocrystalline panels perform well even in diffuse light and low sun angles. The MPPT charge controllers maximize energy harvest under all conditions. We size systems based on your location's worst-month solar irradiance data to ensure year-round performance.

What pole heights are available?

Pole heights range from 3 meters to 12 meters, fully customised to your project requirements. Standard heights include 3m, 4m, 5m, 6m, 8m, 10m, and 12m. Poles are available in tapered or straight profiles, with single or dual arm configurations. Custom pole designs, colours, and decorative elements are available for project orders.

Do you offer smart control and monitoring?

Yes — our outdoor and solar lighting systems are IoT-ready. We offer remote monitoring, dimming scheduling, motion-activated operation, and fault detection via cellular or LoRaWAN connectivity. This allows facility managers to monitor performance, adjust schedules, and receive alerts for maintenance — all from a central dashboard.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do solar street lights work?

Solar street lights convert sunlight into electricity through high-efficiency monocrystalline solar panels. This electricity is stored in lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries during the day via MPPT charge controllers, which maximize energy harvest. At night, the LED fixture automatically turns on, powered by the stored battery energy. Smart controllers manage charging, discharging, and dimming schedules to optimize performance and battery life.

What's the difference between all-in-one and split solar lights?

All-in-one solar lights integrate the solar panel, battery, LED fixture, and controller into a single compact unit mounted on top of the pole. They're easier to install and maintain. Split design solar lights have the solar panel mounted separately (usually on top of the pole) with the battery and controller in a ground-level or pole-mounted cabinet. Split designs allow for larger solar panels and battery capacity, making them ideal for high-wattage applications or areas with limited sunlight.

How long does the battery last?

Our LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) batteries are rated for 2000+ charge cycles, which typically translates to 5-7 years of service before capacity drops below 80%. Actual lifespan depends on operating conditions, depth of discharge, and temperature. Our smart battery management system optimizes charging and discharging profiles to maximize battery life. The battery is covered by a 2-year warranty and is field-replaceable.

Can outdoor lights be dimmed or controlled remotely?

Yes — our outdoor and solar lighting systems support multiple control options. Basic models use photocells for dusk-to-dawn operation with optional motion sensors for security applications. Advanced models offer IoT connectivity via cellular or LoRaWAN, enabling remote monitoring, dimming scheduling, group control, and fault detection from a central management dashboard.

What does IP66 mean?

IP66 is an ingress protection rating where the first digit (6) means the fixture is completely dust-tight — no dust can enter the housing. The second digit (6) means it can withstand powerful water jets from any direction, making it suitable for heavy rain, pressure washing, and outdoor exposure. Our fixtures also carry IK10 impact resistance, meaning they can withstand 20 joules of impact force — equivalent to a 5kg weight dropped from 40cm.

Can I get custom pole designs and colours?

Absolutely — we offer fully customised pole solutions. Choose from tapered or straight profiles, single or dual arm configurations, and heights from 3m to 12m. We can match any RAL colour for both poles and fixtures. For architectural and landscape projects, we can develop custom pole designs, decorative elements, and bespoke housings to match your project's aesthetic vision. Minimum order quantities apply for custom designs.
