Crafting a luxurious shopping experience with precise accent lighting.

Our client, a premium fashion retailer with a growing presence across the GCC, approached Yakeen Lighting to design the illumination scheme for their new flagship boutique in Riyadh's most prestigious shopping district. The 1,200 sqm space would house ready-to-wear collections, accessories, fine jewelry, and a private VIP salon — each requiring a distinct lighting approach.

The challenge was multifaceted. The client demanded that merchandise appear exceptionally vivid and true-to-color under every light source. Simultaneously, the lighting had to create a sense of luxury and intimacy — a feeling of entering a private gallery rather than a commercial retail space. Finally, every fixture had to match the store's custom brushed gold interior fixtures, requiring a fully bespoke finish.

Key design objectives:

• Museum-quality color rendering — fabrics, leathers, and gemstones must appear perfectly true-to-life
• Layered lighting hierarchy — ambient, accent, and focal layers that guide the customer journey
• Custom gold finish — all visible fixture surfaces must match interior design specifications
• Smart scene control — multiple scenes for daytime, evening, and special events
• Anti-glare comfort — UGR < 19 throughout, with particular attention to changing rooms
• SASO 2902 compliance — full certification for the Saudi market

A bespoke lighting system tailored to every detail.

Our design team developed a comprehensive multi-layered lighting scheme that balances dramatic merchandise illumination with luxurious ambient comfort. Every element was carefully considered — from the color temperature of the linear cove lighting to the beam angles of individual track spotlights.

Bespoke Linear Cove Lighting

Running along the perimeter of every ceiling plane, our custom linear systems provide a soft wash of warm 2700K light that defines architectural volumes and creates a sense of spaciousness. The extruded aluminum profiles were custom-finished in brushed gold to match the store's interior fixtures precisely. Opal diffusers ensure perfectly uniform output with zero visible LED dots, even at close range.

Custom Track System with CRI 95+

For merchandise display, we specified our premium track system with CRI 95+ COB LED modules. The track rails were custom-finished in the same brushed gold as the linear systems, creating a cohesive aesthetic throughout the store. Adjustable spotlight heads with interchangeable beam angles (15°, 24°, and 36°) allow the merchandising team to precisely direct light onto each garment, accessory, and display feature.

Anti-Glare Downlights for Changing Rooms

In the changing rooms and VIP areas, we installed deep-recessed anti-glare downlights with UGR < 16 performance — far below the industry standard. The warm 2700K light flatters skin tones and creates an intimate, comfortable environment for customers. Flush trimless installation preserves the clean architectural lines of the space.

The entire system is controlled via DALI-2 smart dimming, with pre-programmed scenes for daytime retail, evening ambiance, window display mode, and cleaning mode. The system integrates seamlessly with the building management system for centralized control and energy monitoring.
