Warm, layered light that feels like home — even at six meters high.
Our client is a European HNW family relocating to Dubai and building their dream home on Palm Jumeirah. The villa is a contemporary Arabic design — clean lines, natural stone, large openings to the sea, and spectacular double-height spaces throughout.
The family wanted light that felt warm, intimate, and welcoming — a contrast to the often clinical feel of modern Dubai villas. They envisioned evenings spent by the pool, dinner parties in the garden, and quiet mornings with a view of the Gulf.
The challenge was significant: ceilings exceeding 6 meters in most living areas, summer temperatures above 50°C that push LED drivers to their limits, and the need for full SASO certification on every fixture.
Our approach was built around a single idea: layered light at every scale. Instead of trying to fill 6-meter ceilings with light from above — which always feels flat and institutional — we built light from the ground up.
Ambient layer: Soft, indirect cove lighting along perimeters and architectural details creates general warmth without glare. 2700K warm white throughout, tunable via scene control for different moods and times of day.
Task layer: Focused, high-CRI lighting in kitchens, home offices, vanities, and reading nooks — all individually controlled and dimmable.
Accent layer: Precision spotlights highlight artwork, stone feature walls, and architectural details. Narrow beam angles create dramatic pools of light and shadow.
The pièce de résistance is a custom 3-meter sculptural pendant in the double-height entrance — a statement piece that anchors the space and creates a warm, descending glow at human scale.
Every room in the villa was designed with intention. These three spaces capture the essence of the project.
A custom 3-meter sculptural pendant anchors the 7-meter entrance hall. Handcrafted brushed brass frame with cascading diffused glass elements that create a warm, descending glow — making a grand space feel intimate and welcoming.
Layered cove lighting provides ambient warmth, while integrated bedside reading lights and vanity lighting offer precise task illumination. Four lighting scenes — Morning, Day, Evening, and Night — adapt to every rhythm of the day.
Waterproof linear LED strips define the pool edge, while uplighting on mature palm trees creates a dramatic tropical canopy after dark. All fixtures IP67 rated and engineered for 55°C ambient operation.
Every fixture was specified, designed, or modified to fit the architecture and the family's lifestyle.
The villa's soaring ceilings meant standard fixtures couldn't deliver enough light at floor level without massive wattage. Meanwhile, Dubai's 50°C summer temperatures push LED drivers beyond their rated operating range, risking premature failure and shortened lifespans.
We designed extended heat sinks for all high-output fixtures, increasing thermal mass by 60%. High-temperature drivers rated for 70°C ambient were specified throughout, with custom mounting brackets that create airflow gaps between the fixture and ceiling. Every outdoor fixture underwent accelerated heat testing to guarantee performance.
We've lived in beautiful homes before, but none have ever felt this warm and inviting after dark. Yakeen didn't just install lights — they gave our home its atmosphere.
From Palm Jumeirah to the hills of Riyadh, we design lighting for homes that are as unique as the families who live in them. Let's talk about your project.
