How to choose

Not sure which downlight? Start here.

Six variants is a lot. Here's how we narrow it down in a real specification — by answering three questions.

01

How important is the ceiling aesthetic?

Trimless if you want the fixture to disappear — specify it early, before the ceiling goes up. Fixed trim if the ceiling is already in and you need a clean, reliable install.

02

What beam angle do you need?

Narrow (15°) for accent lighting on art or features. Medium (36°) for general retail. Wide (60°) for even ambient fill. If you're still figuring it out, start with 36° — it's the workhorse.

03

Will people look up at it?

If the space has high ceilings or people will be directly underneath, go with a deep-recessed anti-glare variant (UGR < 19). Corridors, lobbies, and offices almost always need it.

Still not sure? Send us the ceiling drawing and we'll tell you what to use.

Engineering Deep Dive

How we get UGR < 19 on a trimless downlight.

Anyone can put a diffuser on a downlight and call it "low glare." The trick is doing it without losing half the light output. Here's how our anti-glare optics actually work.

01

Deep-recessed LED position

The LED source sits 38mm below the ceiling plane — deeper than most competitors. More depth = smaller visible angle = less glare. The trade-off is a larger housing, but that's also where the heatsink lives.

02

Black baffle + textured reflector

A matte black baffle absorbs stray light at wide angles. The micro-textured reflector redirects useful light forward while keeping the source invisible from normal viewing positions. Low-grade fixtures skip this and you can see the chip.

03

COB with precise TIR lens

COB LEDs produce a more uniform source than SMD arrays. Paired with a Total Internal Reflection lens, we get a clean beam edge and <UGR 19 at normal ceiling heights. Verified with goniophotometer, not just calculated.

The result: UGR < 19 at 2.8m ceiling height, 90 lm/W system efficacy, and you can't see the LED source from a 60° viewing angle. If you want the IES file to verify, it's in the spec package below.

Quality Assurance

Tested to specification. Every unit.

Every fixture we ship passes through our in-house photometric and electrical testing lab. Here's what gets verified before your order leaves the facility.

🔵

Photometric Verification

Flux, efficacy, CCT, and CRI checked in our integrating sphere following LM-79 methodology.

📐

IES Files Included

Goniophotometer-measured IES files for every model. Ready for DIALux and Relux.

⚡

Electrical Safety

Hi-pot test, grounding check, and power factor verification on 100% of production.

🔥

24-Hour Burn-In

Every fixture runs for 24 hours at rated voltage. Early failures caught before shipping.
