Museum-grade optical precision.
Every spotlight is engineered for precise beam control, exceptional color rendering, and thermal stability. Specify with confidence for the most critical applications.
Pick the right beam. It matters more than you think.
The same spotlight at 10° and 60° is two completely different lights. Here's how we spec it in practice.
| Beam angle | What it does | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10° – 15° | Tight, focused spot | Single art pieces, sculptures, high-value retail items | Hot spots — needs good optics |
| 24° – 36° | Versatile accent beam | General retail, wall washing at close range, restaurant tables | Your default starting point for most projects |
| 40° – 60° | Wide flood | Wall washing, lower-ceiling retail, general fill light | Light falls off fast — test spacing |
| Wall wash lens | Even distribution on vertical surfaces | Feature walls, backdrops, retail perimeter | Mount distance from wall matters — follow our spec |
All track heads available with zoom optics (adjustable 15°–60°). Good for spaces where you'll reconfigure displays regularly.
Why museum-grade color costs more — and when it's worth it.
CRI 80 vs CRI 90 vs CRI 95 vs CRI 98. The numbers go up, the price goes up. But what are you actually paying for? And when does it actually matter?
CRI is an average — R9 is the tell
CRI (Ra) is the average of R1-R8. A fixture can have CRI 90 and still have terrible red rendering (R9). We spec R9 > 50 as minimum for retail and hospitality. If a provider won't tell you the R9 value, it's probably low.
Reflector + lens = different beam quality
Entry-level spots use a single reflector. Ours use a COB + precision TIR lens for tight beam control and clean beam edges. The difference is visible on a white wall: no "spill rings," no color separation at the beam edge.
Zoom optics — useful but watch the loss
Adjustable beam (15°-60°) sounds great on paper. But every zoom optic loses some light — typically 15-20% vs fixed beam. We spec fixed beams where possible and zoom only for spaces that will reconfigure regularly.
Our recommendation: CRI 90 + R9 > 50 for 90% of projects. CRI 95+ for art galleries, high-end retail, and fine dining. CRI 98 only if you're lighting a museum or someone's private art collection — the jump from 95 to 98 is expensive and most people can't see it.
